"You are the missing link!" - 2020 international competition for innovative construction startups
CEMEX Ventures, Ferrovial, Hilti, Leonard Group VINCI and NOVA by Saint-Gobain are inaugurating a new edition of the international competition titled "Construction Startup 2020." This exciting initiative aims to reach out to entrepreneurs from around the world and support those of their ideas (expressed in the form of start-ups) that have the potential to stimulate innovation in the construction industry. The competition is open until July 26, 2020. This year's edition is held under the theme "You are the missing link."
Supporting innovative ideas
CEMEX Ventures, the Corporate Venture Capital unit of CEMEX, has inaugurated this year's edition of the competition, aimed at construction industry start-ups. Following the huge success of previous editions, Ferrovial, Hilti, Leonard Group VINCI Group and NOVA by Saint-Gobain have joined as co-organizers of the competition. The organizers aim to find and support start-ups from around the world that have the potential to lead the transformation of the construction industry. The companies are jointly organizing the construction start-up competition to support companies that are breaking the established pattern of the construction industry as one of the least digitized and most fragmented industries through their activities. The organizers are pooling their expertise and resources to inspire start-ups through their knowledge of infrastructure, materials and equipment.
Under the slogan "You are the missing link," five key players in the construction industry are inviting all entrepreneurs around the world to submit their innovative construction projects for this year's competition. Projects can be submitted from May 19 to July 26, 2020.
Potential of organizers a chance to implement a startup
The global operations of the five organizers of the competition allow start-ups to enter the competition from anywhere in the world, and give them the opportunity to scale and expand their business into new geographic markets. The position of the five leaders in the construction industry's value chain provides participants with broad insight into the challenges facing the industry, as well as access to an active portfolio of important contacts. These factors help build relationships with new investors and companies focused on innovation. In addition, the competition offers participants the opportunity to test and implement their solutions at any of the five organizing companies.
The tremendous success of previous editions, in which the number of applicants grew year after year, has helped create an ecosystem of more than a thousand construction industry start-ups from more than 80 countries. The competition aims to complement the industry's cutting-edge solutions, facilitate an effective review of investment opportunities and create a community of decision-makers committed to solving construction industry problems from several angles - innovation, technology and sustainability.
