Krakow's Skeletor is perhaps one of the more famous buildings of its kind in Poland - unfinished, yawning with emptiness, frightened by the sounds of the wind blowing over the structure. It's one of those places that grew legends, which graffiti artists eventually began to exploit. Despite its questionable beauty, Skeletor has become a symbol of Krakow, a scenic landmark.
Skeletor was built as a NOT office building near the Mogilskie traffic circle. It was the tallest such building in the city - it measured over 92 meters and housed 24 floors. The authors of the project were the team of architect Zdzislaw Arct. Construction began in 1975, but was interrupted for economic reasons. In four years the structure, which became part of Krakow's landscape for so long, was built. Work resumed only in 2016, when Treimorfa became the building's owner. The DDJM architectural studio is responsible for the new concept of the office building. Unity Tower - as the notorious skeleton has been rechristened - measures 102.5 meters in height and has more than 27 floors. Together with the Unity Eye - Krakow's tallest terrace with a glass-enclosed restaurant - and four lower buildings, they form the Unity Centre, a multifunctional business center.
The entire complex is scheduled for completion in June this year, but we can already admire the effects of the work.
