A house designed by architect Marcin Tomaszewski of REFORM Architekt is to be built near Lodz, on a forest plot. The single-story house, designed with seniors in mind, was inspired by the shape of a Californian Joshua tree.
A single-story house with a total area of 220 square meters will be built on a plot of about 3,000 square meters. The project has been developed with seniors in mind, looking for a safe home for their next quiet years.

safe, one-story house
Investors wanted to design a house that was inaccessible from the outside and safe for mature people.
As architect Marcin Tomaszewski says:
Safety for me meant the absence of stairs, so I proposed a ramp located inside the house for moving between rooms.
Such a solution raised the body of the building by 1.5 meters along the entire length of the building, thanks to which the clients additionally received a covered terrace and the possibility to access the roof, just from the terrace level. Interestingly, from the outside the building gives the impression of being storied, although in fact it has only one floor.

Joshua tree
The projket was inspired by the characteristic short-leaved yuccas with geometric branches. These plants, known as Joshua tree, grow in, among other places, an area of a national park in southeastern California.
As Marcin Tomaszewski says of the inspiration:
This house was first created in a dream. The dreamed branch from the Joshua Tree certainly had to do with the album of the band U2, released for the 30th anniversary of their artistic work, which the performers called Joshua Tree and which I listened to often during the design period.
The external appearance of the building's massing is determined by the most important of the guidelines - the safety of the users. The modern building includes details reminiscent of last century's design. These include wooden tinted windows, characteristic of the 1960s and 1970s. RE: JOSHUA TREE HOUSE is scheduled for completion in 2021.
