Casa Cumaru,
designed by FGMF Arquitetos
The Casa Cumaru residence project, designed by Brazilian architectural studio FGMF Arquitetos, is an exceptional example of contemporary Brazilian architecture that harmoniously combines modern technology with natural surroundings. Situated on a hill with panoramic views of the valley, the single-family house is distinguished by its use of concrete and large glazing, which ensures full integration of the interior with the external landscape. Characteristic elements of the design are the cumaru wood finishes, which give the building a warm, natural feel, as well as the infinity pool and green roof, which are in keeping with the ecological approach to design. Movable louvers over the pool, minimalist design and a water recycling system that emphasizes the sustainable nature of the building also catch the eye in the design.

a home inspired by Amazonian architecture
At first glance, the layout of this residence may seem typical: social spaces on the first floor, a garage in the basement, and bedrooms upstairs. Outside, there is a veranda and a swimming pool, adding to the impression of comfort. However, these are only appearances. The key to understanding this space is the thoughtful architectural concept. A sequence of four porticoes floats above the first floor, giving the building a unique character. This makes the first floor, surrounded by glass, appear light, almost transparent, integrating the interior with the surroundings. This treatment makes the residence combine elegance with modernity, creating a place full of light and space.

house suspended on pillars of concrete and steel
On one side of the structure, the porticoes are supported by four concrete pillars, while on the other, only two support a 22-foot metal truss that stabilizes the concrete roof beams responsible for suspending the entire building. The concrete and steel structure encompasses all the interior rooms of the residence, and also covers a double-height balcony and part of the swimming pool.

Wood plays a key role in the design: cumaru wood cladding, shrimp doors in the bedrooms, movable blinds over the pool, and a wooden terrace on the balcony and kitchen add warmth and character to the interior, an ideal place that combines modernity with a cozy atmosphere.

the house as part of the amazon ecosystem
With dynamic changes in architecture and the growing need for harmony with nature, the design of single-family homes in Brazil is becoming not only an expression of aesthetics, but also a philosophy of sustainability. Examples of modern residences that combine lightness and transparency with natural surroundings show how it is possible to create spaces where the boundaries between inside and outside blur and nature enters the lives of residents. This approach not only enhances the quality of life, but also encourages reflection on the relationship between man and nature, emphasizing that architecture can and should be an integral part of the landscape, In this harmonious space, concrete, steel, glass, wood, water and vegetation form a coherent whole, in which each element plays an important role. In this way, buildings become not only a place to live, but also a space where one can fully experience the beauty of the surrounding world.
