Thanks to a joint initiative of the Chamber of Archite cts of Poland and the Association of Polish Architects, a website for the Shaping Space program was created, aimed at both those already involved in the program and those wishing to join it - students, teachers, parents and architects.
The educational program was created to shape an informed society: people who submit worthwhile projects to the civic budget and can take care of the aesthetic signs of their workplaces; know how to read the local plan and take care of ergonomics in their homes; appreciate the local color of their cities and are open to modern architectural solutions; are part of civil society and are not afraid to have an individual approach to the nearest space; feel pride in their local identity and move around without complexes, getting to know new areas; are responsible for their place on earth," reads the website of the Shaping Space initiative.
The aim of the Shaping Space educational program is, among other things, to develop awareness of the space around us, understanding of the technical and aesthetic aspects of built space, or critical and analytical problem-solving skills. The general spatial education program was created on the model of the Shaping Space program, which has been operating in Ireland since 1997 to complement schooling, and was designed to sensitize young people to socio-spatial and aesthetic problems in architecture and urban planning. The pilot edition of the Polish version of the program was launched in 2013. As part of the initiative, architect-educators conduct classes in three cycles - "I and Space," "We and Space" and "Time and Space."
Architects and establishments not yet decided to join the program can download a set of basic information available with the application form. In addition to the website, events related to the initiative can also be followed on Facebook. Those interested in the Shaping Spaces program can contact the project's national coordinator, Anna Kulinskaya, directly: a.kulinska@izbaarchitektow.pl or by phone: 605 682 076.
