Waste segregation systems - which one to choose?
The amount of garbage that ends up in Polish landfills is increasing every year. And yet a sizable part of it, could be recycled and reused. However, for this it is necessary to segregate them effectively.
And not only in industry, but especially in our homes. See some of the REJS brand's ways to make it as easy as possible to segregate garbage at home and effectively take care of the environment.

For waste segregation to make sense, it must be done properly. How to do it right? We divide garbage into fractions depending on the material they are made of. We collect separately: plastics and metals, glass, paper, bio-waste that can decompose quickly, as well as other mixed waste that we can't yet use effectively.

So much theory, but in practice we often have doubts about which container specific products should go into. Especially those made of different materials. As long as there is a possibility - for example, in the case of packaging, let's separate paper and plastic parts. Worse, if this is not possible. In that case, let's read labels. Here are some of the most problematic examples. Milk or juice cartons, although paper-based, need to be disposed of in the yellow plastic bin, as they are covered with plastic. For that, receipts or used paper towels - to the black mixed waste. On the other hand, light bulbs, batteries and household appliances - should be placed in special containers, which are becoming more and more numerous in the city's housing estates, or at special points that collect electro-waste.

Segregate waste in your home - see how
Okay, it's clear where the different types of waste should go, but how to accommodate containers for all these fractions in your home kitchen? There are several ways to do it.
As long as you choose systems designed with recycling in mind, you only need one, not necessarily large cabinet or high drawer, for the recycling bins. The range of functional and convenient-to-use solutions today is very wide, allowing you to tailor them to your own needs and habits. Thanks to them, segregation really is simpler. - explains Joanna Posadzy, Marketing Director of the REJS brand, a manufacturer of furniture accessories.

The waste segregation systems available today, such as the aforementioned REJS brand, differ mainly in the way they are installed in the cabinet. There are solutions that simply insert into a drawer, such as PRAKTIKO sets. They include buckets made of durable plastic on a collective tray. They are available in widths of 60, 80 and 90 cm, which allows you to match them to the built-in, as well as the space you have. Another idea is the SEGREGO rack itself, which is also designed for 60, 80 and 90 cm wide drawers. SEGREGO allows you to organize buckets and cleaning accessories, while preventing them from moving around.

Another type of waste separation systems are those that attach to the cabinet body. We are talking about the JC and Variant MULTI REJS systems, which are attached to cabinets with hinged fronts, or attached to the pull-out part of the rack. Importantly, these sets fit even into relatively narrow cabinets with a width of 30, 40 or 45 cm, which proves that even in a small kitchen, segregation is possible and can be convenient.

Another type of segregation sets are SEGREGO drawers. And they are fixed to the cabinet. They are designed for cabinets with a width of 45, 50, 60 or 80 cm. In this case, the baskets are covered by a single collective cover that serves as an additional shelf. Full extension guarantees easy access even to the bins located at the back. It is worth keeping trash in them, which we generate less. Those that are generated the most, it is better to throw them into larger buckets located in front. Interestingly, SEGREGO drawers are also available with electric opening assistance systems. Thanks to them (depending on the solution), it is enough to lightly press the front or move the foot under the cabinet's bottom rim for the drawer with baskets to open by itself.

Match the segregation to yourself
Importantly, basically all the segregation systems described above include models with different numbers and capacities of buckets. For example, PRAKTIKO can have 3 to 4 large baskets, plus 2 or 4 smaller garbage cans. On the other hand, the garbage cans available in different configurations within the JC systems can have a capacity of 7, 9, 15 or 20 liters. In addition, they can be 33 or 44 cm high. This makes it easier to choose a bin that matches the volume of waste from a given material and to keep the kitchen tidy. By this, choosing the right system for you, we make segregation simpler and more efficient.
