Those who have faced this task so far include Rainer Mahlamäki, Fuensanta Nieto, Sami Rintala and Lina Ghotmeh. This year Robert Konieczny has joined the ranks. What is it about? Well, every year the Association of Estonian Architects entrusts the selection of the best projects in the country to a selected foreign architect. This year it was the co-founder of the Katowice-based KWK Promes studio who faced this challenge (as the first Polish architect!).

The board of directors of the Estonian association selected the Silesian architect, appreciating his work - "architecture that hides logical, clever solutions" - and their special attention was drawn to Szczecin's Museum of the Breakthroughs Dialogue Center.
The architect has already selected seven buildings from among the thirty nominated 2020/2021 sites, which he will view and evaluate live. The task is so difficult that the choice of the winner depends only on him - as Konieczny acts as a one-man jury, and this, as he writes, is not only a great honor, but also stress and responsibility.
The architect's visit to Estonia will culminate with his participation in the centennial celebration of the Association of Estonian Architects (Eesti Arhitektide Liit).
I hope, as does the Estonian side, that my visit here will initiate joint activities between the two architectural communities, as well as mutual interest in the architectural media in the realizations of our Baltic countries. The first step towards this has just been taken," Konieczny wrote on his Facebook profile.
Which of the projects will appeal most to Robert Konieczny? The winner of the competition will be announced in early December at a planned ceremony in Tallinn.
