A revolution in low-emission flooring? Let's do it together!

12 of March '25

In the face of growing environmental awareness and increasingly stringent environmental standards, the search for construction solutions that minimize the negative impact on our environment is becoming a priority. One such area is resin production. As a pioneer in innovative building solutions, Remmers launched a new Zero Emission (ZE) flooring product line at the end of 2023, meeting the highest environmental standards.

Why are low-emission floors so important?

Floors, especially those used in confined spaces such as residential buildings or public facilities, have an impact on the quality of the air we breathe, among other things. Traditional flooring materials often contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are released into the atmosphere, causing respiratory irritation, allergies and even more serious health problems.

For this reason, more and more countries are introducing increasingly stringent regulations on VOC emissions from building materials. Standards such as GISCODE clarify the permissible levels of these compounds in individual products, and the labeling of building products is becoming increasingly detailed.

Remmers Zero Emission offer

Remmers, responding to these challenges, has developed innovative Zero Emission flooring systems. Products in this line are characterized by:

  • Minimal VOC content: Through the use of special formulas, Remmers Zero Emission products contain less than 1% VOCs, well below current standards.

  • GISCODE RE 30: All products in this line have a GISCODE RE 30 classification, which means they are very low emission materials.

  • Wide range of applications: Remmers Zero Emission systems can be used both as self-spread coatings and in backfilled systems to achieve a variety of visual effects and meet the requirements of different projects.

  • Compatibility with other products: Zero Emission products can be used in combination with other Remmers materials, providing full design flexibility.

Currently in stock are products such as:

  • Epoxy ZE 100 - a low-emission epoxy primer, mortar and levelling resin, which can also be used as a base layer in backfilled floors

  • Epoxy ZE Color - a low-emission, pigmented epoxy coating in self-spreading systems, so-called SL "kach, as well as in backfilled systems, so-called "spreads"

  • Epoxy ZE Color AS - static dissipative, low-emission epoxy coating, dedicated to EX zones in two variants of surface texture: smooth and in anti-slip version, backfilled with special conductive sand (Ceramix Conduct)

With these products, our low-emission coatings are suitable for use in general industry (production and storage areas), explosion protection zones (EX zones) and the broader parking segment.

Currently, Remmers products meet the requirements of BREEAM, LEED, DGNB or EPD certificates , the first two of which are the most popular in Poland:

  • BREEAM: stands for "Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method." It stands for the oldest and most widely used certification system for sustainable construction (British Sustainable Development Certificate). The seal of approval is awarded in four grades, according to a simple point system, based on eight evaluation categories. The criteria take into account impact at the global, regional, local and internal levels.

  • LEED: "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" is a green building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council in 1998. It is a globally used sustainability certification that defines a series of standards for environmentally friendly, resource-saving and sustainable construction.
