In the one-stage, implementation competition for the design of an architectural and urbanplanning concept for the concertand congress hall on Festival Street in Zielona Gora, announced by the Zielona Gora Cultural Center, the winner was the proposal of architects from the Wroclaw office of Heinle, Wischer und Partner. Congratulations!
The purpose of the competition was to select an architectural and urbandesign concept for the Zielona Gora Cultural Center's concert and conferencehall building and the development of its immediate vicinity.
The new building is to be built on the site of the existing auditorium and amphitheater stage, which will be demolished due to their poor technical condition. According to the competition guidelines, the architectural form of the new hall should be original, constitute a coherent complex with the existing ZOK building and highlight the proximity of the city park. The concertand conference hall building itself should accommodate an audience of 1,200 to 2,000 people and be functionally connected to the ZOK building.
The competition court composed of: Marian Fikus (chairman, SARP Poznań, Wielkopolska OIA RP), Zbigniew Maćków (deputy chairman, SARP Wrocław, Dolnośląska OIA RP), Leon Szapowałow (SARP Zielona Góra, Lubuska OIA RP), Mirosław Musiał (Zielona Góra Cultural Center), Małgorzata Maśko-Horyza (Director of the Department of City Development Zielona Góra), Leszek Horodyski (SARP Gorzów Wlkp, Lubuska OIA RP) and Halina Łowejko (organizing secretary of the competition, SARP Zielona Góra, Lubuska OIA RP) awarded the first prize, two third places and three honorable mentions.
awards and honorable mentions
First place was awarded to the Heinle, Wischer und Partner studio for:
concise in form and functionally accurate proposal for the solution of the hall building with great respect for the existing topography of the hill on which the amphitheater was located. The Jury's recognition was given to the simple and clear functional solutions, as well as the clear structural layout. Noteworthy is the landscape-accurate and economically justified solution of the auditorium on the slope of the existing terrain, which allows to reduce complex and costly earthworks and minimizes the impact of a large volume in contact with the open landscape. The designed auditorium fits harmoniously into the hill area, aptly closing the strip composition of this part of the park.
