On November 11, the winners of the international CEMEX Building Award competition were announced. In the finals of the 30th anniversary edition of the event, there were 5 buildings from Poland. The CEMEX Building Award is a prestigious award in the world of architecture and construction. In each edition, the jury selects the best projects, separately awarding investments completed in Mexico and other countries.
This year's winners were announced at an online gala held on November 11 in Mexico. This year 52 projects from countries such as the Czech Republic, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Guatemala, El Salvador, France, Israel, Mexico, Poland, Germany, Montenegro, Panama, Nicaragua and Spain qualified for the finals of the competition. Projects from Poland also competed for victory in the international installment of the competition: Suntago Wodny Świat (category: Public Buildings) the largest covered water park in Central and Eastern Europe, located between Warsaw and Lodz in Wręcza near Mszczonow. The facility accommodates up to 15,000 people and covers an area of 20 hectares.
Another important project for the region is the S17 route, a transportation route linking Warsaw and Lublin, the expansion of which has been required for years due to high national and local traffic loads (category: Infrastructure). In the Sustainable Construction category, the LPP Fashion Lab office building of the LPP clothing company was submitted, whose industrial character fits in with the architecture of the industrial district of Gdansk.
Deepspot is the fourth finalist for the CEMEX Building Award, and for good reason, it was entered in the category: Innovation in Construction. It is the deepest diving pool in Europe, at 45 meters deep and holding 8,000 m3 of water. The complex is enriched with a unique underwater tunnel that allows visitors to observe people training at the greatest depths.
Representative of the category: Additional Social Value is Chelm Gallery, the first modern shopping center in Chelm, offering convenient shopping in a wide range of stores and services, as well as a meeting place for residents.
The very presence in the finals of the CEMEX Building Award is a great honor. Being invited to join the group of finalists is recognition of the quality of projects and investments carried out in Poland. It is also a kind of confirmation that buildings in our country are built in accordance with the highest standards," says Rafał Gajewski, Commercial Division Director from CEMEX Poland.
TheCEMEX Building Award competition has been organized since 1991. The jury awards the best construction projects from around the world and the professionals who implement them. Investments characterized by innovation and creativity, offering the best solutions for users, and promoting environmentally friendly solutions can count on victory. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no awards were given in 2020 - projects registered a year ago were judged in the current year.
