Secure the space

Remove furniture and other objects that are in the room being renovated. Secure the floor with paper or painter's film. This will protect it from splashes. Tape the edges of windows, doors, baseboards and the joints of walls and ceiling. Especially on the bevels, take care to be precise.

Assess and prepare the surface

Check if there are any cracks, cavities or stains on the painted wall. Assess whether the surface needs priming. Fill any cavities with joint compound and level with sandpaper after it dries. Remove any dirt, greasy stains and dust.

Choosing the right paint

Low bevels get dirty easily. So use a product that allows easy removal of stains. This is especially important for light colors, on which dirt is more visible, which is what will work best for attic rooms. They will not absorb light, but reflect it, making the interior appear more spacious. So avoid intense colors, especially if you have a small and poorly lit attic. Strong colors will also perform unfavorably on bevels and knee walls. If you absolutely want to use an expressive shade, paint only one wall or a section of it with it. Necessarily, apply such a solution on a vertical wall.

Painting technique

Always start from the ceiling, and only then move on to the slants. Use a roller with long bristles to evenly cover the surface. For harder-to-reach areas, use a brush. Once you have finished painting the bevels and ceiling, move on to the vertical walls. Paint them in strips from top to bottom to avoid streaks. Often two coats of paint are required. The first can be thinner, while the second should evenly cover the whole. Wait for the first coat to dry according to the paint manufacturer's instructions.

Finishing

Remove the painter's tapes when you are finished painting. Do this before the paint is completely dry! This way you will avoid peeling off the paint layer. If you notice imperfections, correct them with a fine brush.
