Paulina Shacalis, designer of the collection, talks about the process of creating the collection, what sets it apart and the importance of color.
Architecture&Business: How was the idea for the OVO M+ collection born?
Paulina Shacalis: I really wanted to create a collection, which, thanks to unusual colors and interesting form, will change any interior, make it intriguing. The washbasin and bathtub in a bold color focus the eyes on themselves. Therefore, their shape and all the details must be worked out to perfection. When designing, I looked for a contemporary and expressive form. The final shape was created from playing with geometry. It is formed by two symmetrical, opposite semicircles. The solids have eye-pleasing proportions.
Architecture&Business: What distinguishes the collection?
Paulina Shacalis: The innovative solution we used is to profile the washbasin and bathtub in such a way that their bottoms have been lowered and are on a level with the ground, i.e. countertop or floor. This allows the solids to have lower sides while maintaining the optimal internal depth of the product. This not only gives an excellent visual effect, but also has practical advantages. Water from the sink does not splash, and it is easier to get out of the bathtub or bathe the children in it. These are the solutions we always look for in the OMNIRES Studio - beautiful and functional.
Architecture&Business: The colors in the OVO M+ collection are really interesting. What was the inspiration for this palette?
Paulina Shacalis: A constant source of awe and inspiration for me is nature. That's why I was keen to incorporate earthy colors into the collection to create individualized and harmonious interiors. I must admit that it was very difficult to choose only six shades. So I opted for those that allow for many possible interpretations and that provide an excellent starting point and design base. I fell in love with the warm shade of terracotta and olive green. I was intrigued by the deep blue of the night sky or volcanic black, and a light, delicate pink broken with beige gave an original powder-coral shade. The natural palette is also complemented by muted ash gray. The colors look great in a modern matte finish. The collection is also available in traditional white, in two finishes - glossy and matte.

Architecture&Business: How do you choose and juxtapose colors from the OVO M+ collection to create a unique bathroom? Do you rely on monochromatic or multicolored interiors?
Paulina Shacalis: A mix-and-match approach fits our collection. There is no problem to make the toilet bowl white, and the bathtub and washbasin colorful. It is necessary to balance all the elements in the interior so that they match each other. We don't have to choose one color. The point is to approach the interior holistically and create something interesting.
Architecture&Business: So you can freely mix and match the entire collection? In view of this, how do you achieve the balance you mention?
Paulina Shacalis: It all depends on what kind of atmosphere we want to achieve. One of the most important trends at the moment are contrasts and geometric shapes. When decorating interiors in this style, we can juxtapose a terracotta-colored bathtub with green or blue sinks. For this, subway-type tiles, that is, those of small elements. If we want to create a more positive, fun-style interior, then we can experiment, for example, with the color of the grout. For such an interior, terazzo tiles or those with geometric patterns will fit perfectly.

Architecture&Business: What material are the washbasins and bathtubs from the collection made of?
Paulina Shacalis: The OVO M+ collection is created from a special M+ composite, which is made from dolomite rock mined in Poland. This material is extremely durable and allows for precise reproduction of the form. This allows to refine all details to perfection. In the OVO M+ collection, these nuances can be seen in the way the interior is contoured, in the perfectly straight walls, the flat elegant rims, or the perfectly fitting drain bezel. The quality of the finish is extremely important. Only perfect workmanship makes a minimalist form look truly phenomenal.
