This year's installment of Milan Design Week took place from April 15-21. The annual design fest provided the perfect space to present the latest solutions from the LAUFEN brand. They were presented in the form of unique expositions.
Milan Design Week is the largest international interior design fair in the world. Every year, the Milan event is a meeting place for renowned designers, lovers of good design and a forum to discuss leading trends. In such an environment, the LAUFEN brand could not be missed, which presented its bathroom collections.

"Archeology of colors" exhibition
During the Milan show, visitors could visit the "Archeology of Colors" exhibition, where LAUFEN presented a new palette of 12 colors for sanitary ceramic solutions. The installation was prepared in cooperation with Italian designer Roberto Sironi, Studio Lys and Studio Beda Achermann.

For this project, Roberto Sironi examined ancient ceramics from eight civilizations, dating from around 3000 BC to 1500 AD. He categorized more than 10,000 artifacts from museums around the world in terms of the dominant colors that reflect the cultural heritage of each area studied. The result is a historical journey to discover a wide spectrum of colors: from the azures of Egypt, the vivid blues of Mesopotamia, the green celadons of the Chinese Empire and the earthy reds reminiscent of the Roman Empire.

The result was a palette of twelve harmonious tones, ideally suited to contemporary bathroom settings. They were presented in the form of a collection of LAUFEN sanitary ceramics made of Saphirkeramik material. All Saphirkeramik ceramic pieces were manufactured at LAUFEN's innovative production facility in Austria and fired in the world's first electric tunnel kiln powered by renewable energy. Ceramic pieces in new shades were combined with faucets, furniture and accessories to create a unique composition.
The "Archeology of Colors" exhibition project is planned as a mobile installation, which will go to other LAUFEN spaces, in Vienna, Berlin, Madrid and Prague, after Milan Design Week.

LAUFEN's latest bathroom collections
During Milan Design Week 2024, LAUFEN also presented a booth created in collaboration with Norwegian studio Snøhetta. A unique composition was created as part of the MATTER project - the raw materials of ceramics and fixtures were shown on wall panels made of clay, plaster and brass, evoking associations with nature and warmth. Against this backdrop, LAUFEN's latest bathroom collections MEDA, Kartell LAUFEN and ILBAGNOALESSI were presented, as well as innovative SMART solutions:
-
MEDA is a bathroom collection that combines geometric lines with soft shapes for a timeless design. It is perfect for private homes and apartments as well as the luxury hotel sector. MEDA also fits very well with LAUFEN's concept of creating a designer yet functional bathroom
-
Kartell LAUFEN is a bathroom collection in which iconic Italian design is combined with Swiss precision. Sinks, toilets, faucets cabinets bathtubs and accessories from this collection are characterized by a linear design and a vibrant color palette. This gives the bathroom a modern, dynamic form and provides great freedom of arrangement
-
ILBAGNOALESSI is one of LAUFEN's most distinctive bathroom collections. It has been presented in a new look, the result of the evolution of materials and continuous technological research. In the ILBAGNOALESSI collection, fluid, soft shapes give the objects an almost sculptural character.

The LAUFEN exhibition was designed based on a circular approach. This provides the opportunity to reuse as many of the materials used to create the exhibition as possible.
