Competition for innovative ideas affecting the development of concrete technology
Until June 30, experts from construction industry companies and academics from Poland, the Czech Republic and Germany can submit innovative ideas affecting the development of concrete technology. Due to pandemic constraints in the respective countries, the competition's jury has decided to allow applications for the competition to be submitted by the extended deadline.
Föerderpreis Concrete Award
Through the Föerderpreis Beton Award, CEMEX promotes the development of concrete production, processing and application, and concrete structures. Competition projects should determine solutions for improving the characteristics of building materials, their quality, cost efficiency, ecology and technological aspects of concrete and concrete structures. The competition is open to practitioners from construction companies as well as scientists from universities and institutes engaged in research on construction materials.
We have already received seven very interesting and well-prepared projects from Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic," says Peter Lyhs, Director of Product Technology at CEMEX Germany. - I welcomed the jury's decision, because as of mid-March, the activities of universities and research institutes in Central Europe were significantly limited, which made it difficult to prepare competition projects, he adds.
CEMEX Germany's Technology and Science Award has a reputation among concrete technologists - the Förderpreis Concrete Award is now the leading award in the field of building materials research. CEMEX Germany awards the Förderpreis Prize every two years. The competition provides a cash prize of €10,000.
The proposal to involve scientists and researchers from Poland and the Czech Republic in the competition was received enthusiastically by all jury members. At the first meeting of the international jury in October in Berlin, we saw an increase in the potential of the Förderpreis Concrete Prize, thanks to the involvement of young talent from across the region and the strength and innovation in our countries," said Rüdiger Kuhn, Vice President of Materials at CEMEX Central Europe.

The competition paper should be submitted in the local language (Polish, Czech, German) or English. The scientific work (master's or doctoral) must not be older than two years and must be published in scientific journals. Excluded from participation in the competition are works or scientific articles whose co-authorship is attributed to professors of polytechnics, universities or state vocational colleges. In exceptional cases, the organizer reserves the right to divide the prize between two winners.
A particularly important part of the competition entry is the written concept of the practical application of the proposed idea. In addition to the main work, an implementation concept must be presented, taking into account the profile of CEMEX products and services. The winner of the competition will be given the opportunity to present their work and the implementation concept at scientific and technical events organized by CEMEX.
