We wrote about the Gdynia City Museum's plans to launch new online exhibitions, despite the prevailing pandemic, here. Today, on April 30, the Gdynia version of the "Gdynia - Tel Aviv" exhibition, which in 2019 was presented at the POLIN Museum in Warsaw, will be launched. The exhibition - in a revised formula - will come to the Gdynia museum thanks to cooperation between the museums and with the support of the City of Gdynia.
For the purposes of the next iteration of the exhibition, the main thread and axis of the narrative will be architecture, which is the "common denominator" for Gdynia and Tel Aviv, cities that, both in the symbolic layer and in propaganda rhetoric, were described as "white." The exhibition dedicated to the modernist "cities of the future" will feature mock-ups of iconic buildings of Gdynia and Tel Aviv, and will explore the similarities and differences between the cities in terms of their urban layout, the nature of their development, the masses of their buildings, as well as their functions.
