We invite you to participate in the competition announced by the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning. This is the first Polish edition of the international competition of the Union of Architects - Golden Cubes Awards intended for individuals, schools, organizations and institutions engaged in general architectural education.
The purpose of the competition is to encourage and support those who lay the foundations of architectural culture and help children and young people (from school age to adulthood) to understand architectural processes and space shaping of the built environment. The presentation of the most valuable educational projects is intended to recognize and appreciate the work of educators, animators, popularizers, but above all to create a space for dialogue and exchange of experiences in the subject of architectural education in the broadest sense.
categories
One of the basic objectives of the competition is to increase awareness of architecture, space design, urban planning and sustainable development, and to promote the legitimacy of educating children and young people in these fields.
Awards will be presented in four categories:
- audiovisual media - films, audiovisuals, educational materials, websites, social media
- publications - books, magazines, educational tools
- institutions - educational projects implemented by NGOs, institutions, museums
- schools - educational projects implemented by teachers and students

The competition is intended for educators, animators, architects, teachers and representatives of cultural institutions, foundations and associations, as well as people involved in the popularization of architecture and urbanism through various media. The organizers encourage those conducting workshops, lessons, classes, as well as publicists and promoters of knowledge to submit their projects.

The competition is open to projects that were implemented between September 1, 2017 and March 15, 2020.
Submissions should be sent to NIAiU by March 6, 2020. The submitted projects will be evaluated by an independent jury consisting of: Konrad Karmanski,Yannick Roels, Tomasz Osięgłowski, Hanna Zwierzchowska.
The competition is divided into two stages: national and international. In the first stage, each national member section of the UIA participating in the competition will organize a selection process at the national level and nominate one entry in each category for the international preliminaries. In the second phase, an international jury will evaluate the nominated entries and select one UIA Architecture & Children Golden Cubes award in each category.
The national preliminaries will be decided: March 15, 2020.
International settlement: July 19 - 23, 2020 in Rio de Janeiro, during the Congress of the International Union of Architects.
