Katowickie Towarzystwo Budownictwa Społecznego, together with the Katowice branch of SARP, has announced a competition to develop an urbanplanning and architectural concept for a multi-story parking lot in the Culture Zone in Katowice.
The Culture Zone in Katowice is an area that connects cultural and entertainmentfacilities: "Spodek", the International Congress Center, the new headquarters of the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the new Silesian Museum.
The competition will consist of two stages. In the first, participants will submit study papers - the authors of those qualified for the second stage will submit competition works. The concepts will be evaluated in terms of proper transportation service, development of public spaces, greenery and so-called small architecture, as well as the architectural concept of a multi-story parking lot.
The jury will pay attention to the functionality and legibility of the presented communication solutions, as well as the aesthetic qualities of the architectural form, construction and land development.
Also important will be the economic aspects of the concept - the cost of implementation, operation and maintenance. It is important to inscribe the competition object in the surrounding architecture, as well as the originality of spatial solutions.
