The summer season is officially over, and with it the warm evenings outside. Naturally, we begin to spend more and more time in our homes and apartments, and it is there that we seek warmth, comfort and light. To give our interiors an autumn atmosphere we do not at all have to make permanent and time-consuming changes. There are many simple solutions with which we can refresh our home space, as well as create a cozy atmosphere for the upcoming colder days.

As it is the scarcity of light that gives us the most with the passing of the summer season, it is lighting that plays an increasingly important role in our interiors. And while it should be remembered that sunlight is in many ways irreplaceable, artificial interior lighting is essential for good daily living. According to architect Agnieszka Lesiuk of Art Design Studio:
"Above all, in our homes and apartments, it is necessary to take care of the right conditions, using well-thought-out placement of lighting points, light intensities and colors."
And he explains:
"In residential interiors, we use three types of lighting points. The most important is overhead lighting, centrally located in relation to the room. On the other hand, working, directional light, which is often dedicated to a particular function, facilitates residents' daily activities, such as reading books or preparing meals. Another source of light is decorative lighting. It can not be missing in interiors where there is a need to build the right atmosphere. In this case, wall sconces, table and floor lamps, and even lanterns will work well."

It is the decorative light that works best in building an aura and complements both the entire lighting system and the interior design.
"Our basic technical lighting, which we can also simply call "working", functional lighting and whose function is to illuminate a space (when, for example, we want to cook a meal in it or clean it) is usually neutral, bright, ordinary white light of about 3000 Kelvin. It will be different for more decorative lighting, the kind that is responsible for creating a certain atmosphere. Elements of this lighting are great when we want to change the style of the interior a bit, for example, in the case of autumn or in general - seasonal arrangements. So, if we want to read a book in the evening or drink hot tea, these arrangement points of ours will emit light of warm color, i.e. below 2700 Kelvin, which creates an aura of coziness, moodiness," says architect Jacek Tryc, owner of the author's design studio and founder of the Association of Interior Architects.

As the architect emphasizes, both the lighting equipment itself - such as decorative lamps or lampshades - and properly selected electrical fixtures can be a great complement to the aesthetics of the interior:
"Such warm light placed behind a curtain, behind a sofa, under a cabinet or in a corner emits a glow that promotes relaxation and gives a sense of comfort. Sources of this light can remain hidden, or they can themselves be an exposed style accent, such as decorative lamps or lampshades. The same goes for other accessories, such as switches, which in these "strategic", exposed places can have frames made of natural materials or those in colors with warm tones. This atmosphere expressed in colors and textures can be further developed with other items such as blankets, pillows, curtains, carpets, tablecloths or lampshades. Fabrics are perfect for such experiments, they enliven and change the expression of the entire interior. And at the same time such rearrangement is extremely simple - after all, changing a pillow or a curtain is a matter of a few minutes."
