Yesterday, June 28, a contract was signed for the development of design documentation for a new housing development in Lublin. Three buildings on Krochmalna Street, as part of the Mieszkanie Plus program, will be designed by the Bolesław Stelmach design office.
Located 2.5 kilometers from the city center, the buildings will be constructed on land formerly owned by the Lublin Sugar Factory. The three blocks of five- and seven-story buildings will contain a total of about 390 apartments of varying sizes - from studios to M4s, while underground garages will park 444 vehicles.
Although the PFR Nieruchomości company originally planned to create 220 apartments at the site, a resolution passed by the Lublin City Council in April 2021 allowed it to change the provisions of the Local Development Plan, thus planning a higher development and almost doubling the number of residential units.

With this investment, the saying that in unity strength proves true! We were able to carry out changes in the development plan quite quickly, which made the residential potential of the area greater. This investment will give a new quality of urban space, we hope to create a new neighborhood, with a new quality of life," said Artur Szymczyk, Deputy Mayor of Lublin for Investment and Development.
The design of the city's new residential buildings was commissioned to the Lublin-based studio Stelmach and Partners, which presented the most favorable offer in terms of both quality and price, and has experience in designing buildings under thegovernment housing program - according to the design of the team of Bolesław Stelmach (winner of an honorary SARP award in 2010 for lifetime achievement, author of, among others, the Meeting of Cultures Center in Lublin, the Sejm Commissions building in Warsaw or the Szucha Premium Offices office building), a housing estate is currently under construction on Gen. S. Roweckiego "Grot" Street in Świdnik, which will include 108 apartments.

This is a great joy, a great challenge and commitment for us. We already have a successful housing estate project in Świdnik. This is a very important element for Lublin, because the construction of apartments contributes to the development of the fabric of the city in the best possible, well-connected place. I take great pleasure in designing so that Lublin develops in the right way," said Professor Boleslaw Stelmach, director of the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning and owner of the Stelmach and Partners studio.
According to the plan, construction work in Lublin will begin in the second quarter of 2022. What will the new housing development look like? We don't know, but as Wojciech Caruk, president of the PFR Nieruchomości company, announces:
As I hand over this project to Professor Stelmach, I am absolutely convinced that it will be simply beautiful.
