After Koszyki and Elektrownia Powiśle, is it another food hall, or a place with local color? What plans does the investor have for the historic building and its surroundings?
CBR Events sp. z o.o. has submitted a bid for the long-term management of the facility for the next 30 years as part of the tender for the operation of Gwardia Hall. The company has managed the Hall for six years and is well acquainted with the area, its limitations and the concerns of residents. And there are quite a few of these—earlier this year, the local community was concerned about the terms of the proceedings, which allowed interference with the marketplace adjacent to the Hall.

Residents and activists protested against its removal or restriction. The city reassured at the time, claiming that there were no such plans, and that the site would only be made available for renovation and upgrading. We wrote more about the process and the site from the point of view of the local community in the article Dispute over Gwardia Hall. Residents do not want a second Baskets.

So what does the future hold for the building? The long-term lease of the building is to allow, first of all, for its thorough renovation. The investor commissioned studios Kallan and VA Architekci to develop the project. According to the offer, the company plans to entrust the execution of the investment to Erbud fim. The duration of the works is to be as short as possible, so as to limit the period of the Hall's exclusion from use.

As part of the work, the facades of the historic building, erected in 1899-1901, are to be restored, and some of the details will have to be recreated. The second hall underwent renovation several years ago. Changes are also planned for the interior of the building, currently adapted for trade and catering purposes in a rather makeshift, though sufficient, manner. There will be room for about a hundred vendors and restaurateurs, as well as food producers and artisans. Some of the interiors will be adapted for recreation and sports, a reference to the building's history.

The biggest changes are planned for the surroundings of the Hall. A surface parking lot would disappear from the plaza in front of the building, and cars would get an underground hall. Above it, an urban plaza with greenery is planned to offer a variety of physical activities, entertainment, recreation or events.
