This weekend, July 11-12, there will be various events accompanying the closing of the exhibition "Cross Section of Cinema!". The schedule includes a curatorial tour, a visit to the Atlantic Cinema and a screen printing workshop. Advance registration is required for all meetings. On Saturday, July 11, at 4pm, there will be a screen-printing workshop led by the studio Kwiaciarnia Grafiki. Participants will make bags whose designs will relate to the theme of the exhibition. At the same time, there will also be a tape-art workshop with Ewa Cieniak - the artist will show how to create a neon business card of a selected cinema, among those covered by the exhibition "Cinema section!": Skarpa, Iluzjon and Atlantic, or those featured in the "Tu Było Kino" project.
At the same time, there will be a curatorial tour of the exhibition, and at 5:30 pm there will be a guided tour with Klara Boguslawska from the Andrzej Wajda Film Culture Center. Among other things, she will talk about how cinema was perceived after the war, and how it is perceived now? How has the cultural map of the capital changed and where have the old cinemas hidden?
On Sunday, July 12, it will be possible to visit the exhibition "Cinema section!" twice. - at 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Both events will be combined with a visit to the Atlantic cinema, and it is from there that the guide's story will begin. It is the oldest continuously operating cinema of Warsaw, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The program will also include the history of Iluzjon, a reminiscence of the now-defunct Skarpa and a few words about multiplexes. In addition, you will be able to find out who could sleep behind the screen, which Warsaw neon signs were the most beautiful, and what is the connection between the zoo and going to the cinema!
