On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the rebirth of local governments in Poland, Gazeta Wyborcza organized a poll for Supermunicipalities. Residents of a given city could vote for, in their opinion, the most important positive change brought about by the activities of local governments. Voting lasted until April 30. What are the residents of Szczecin, Olsztyn, Bydgoszcz and the Tri-City most proud of?
Szczecin
In Szczecin, the pride of residents is the riverside boulevards and the revitalized Lasztownia. Second place was won by The Tall Ships Races, an international rally of sailing ships. Third place went to the famous Szczecin Philharmonic building and the neighboring Breakthroughs Dialogue Center.
Olsztyn
Olsztyn residents most appreciated the development of the lakeshore - as many as 27.3% of people voted. Also of exceptional importance was the restoration of streetcar traffic to the city and the fact that Olsztyn remained the capital of the province.
Bydgoszcz
In Bydgoszcz, water also wins - as many as 48% of residents voted for the Mill Island and restoring the Brda River to the city. In second place was the restoration of the Old Town and Downtown, and in third place was the streetcar that goes to Fordon.
Tri-City
Gdanskers consider the construction of the airport to be the city's greatest success. In Sopot, the first place went to one of the most important literary festivals in the country, Literary Sopot. Residents of Gdynia are most proud of the city's trolleybuses, which the city continues to invest in.
