On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the rebirth of local governments in Poland, Gazeta Wyborcza organized a poll for Supermunicipalities. Residents of a given city could vote for, in their opinion, the most important positive change brought about by the activities of local governments. Voting lasted until April 30. What are the residents of Katowice, Gliwice, Sosnowiec, Bielsko-Białaand Rybnik most proud of?
Katowice
Katowice residents are most proud of the construction of the NOSPR. The event garnered 23% of the votes. In second place was the creation of the Cultural Zone, and in third place was the reconstruction of Katowice's Market Square.
Gliwice
In Gliwice, the construction of the Opel factory and the creation of a special economic zone in the city came in first place. Second place went to the construction of a sports and entertainment arena, and third to the construction of the A1 and A4 highways.
Bielsko-Biala
Bielsko-Biala residents most value ecological activities in the city , with more than 60% of the votes going to the Gaja Club. Next, residents chose the reconstruction of the market and the renovation of historic townhouses, as well as the expansion of roads. In third place was the reconstruction of the railroad station. The cultural activities of Bielsko-Biala were also appreciated.
Rybnik
In Rybnik, the boulevards on the Nacyna River won an overwhelming number of votes. Rybnik residents also appreciated the town square and the opening of the Regional Road.
Sosnowiec
Sosnowiec can boast Stawiky - a new meeting and urban recreation center. More than 33% of residents voted for it. Second place went to the construction of the Zagłębie Sports Park, and third place to the Zagłębie identity of Sosnowiec residents.
