Nonchalance and seaside atmosphere. Stylish interior in Sopot

10 of September '20

The apartment in Sopot, the interior of which was designed by architects from Colombe studio, already had its history written in the old wooden floor and antique furniture. The investors wanted to introduce a bit of nonchalance, improvisation and exotic memories into the space.

The designers wanted to bring out the original historic space of the Sopot apartment in the project. They introduced new, stylish stucco and a distinctive openwork panel between the dining room and living room. The interior is dominated by bright, natural colors reminiscent of the nearby beaches, occasionally broken with distinctive colors or patterns. One of them is the wallpaper with a tropical motif adorning the veranda walls.

A&B: What was the main inspiration for this interior?

Colombe: The climate of summer seaside towns and the investor's trip to Egypt. It inspired us to choose Alexandrie [Pierre Frey - editor's note] wallpaper, which created the main decorative trend.

A&B: What was the biggest challenge, and what gave you the most pleasure during the design process?

Colombe: The challenge was getting through the official business and renovating the old floor. The pleasures were the autumn visits to Sopot, the aura and the atmosphere of the place, which suggested a lot of solutions to us.

A&B
: What were the needs and requirements of the investor?

Colombe: The interior had to look like an undesigned, nonchalant and improvised space. The living room was to have a place for the investor's more than century-old furniture. It was to be a space used for relaxation in the summer and for work in the winter.

A&B: Where did you get the idea for such a combination of materials and styles?

Colombe: Many of the materials were original to the interior. Those that complemented them were inspired by the style of Sopot and Scandinavia.
