In the residential part of the Koneser Praga Center in Warsaw, Joanna Piórko of the studio Wrażenia Przestrzenne designed the interior of a studio apartment for Kai and Dawid. Surrounded by the walls of a former vodka factory, a loft-style interior was created, which, although small, is functional and filled with accessories that transport you to a "distant galaxy."

The irregular floor plan of the apartment could have been quite a challenge in itself. The designer decided to remove two walls, thus combining the space of the hallway, kitchen, living room and bedroom. Thanks to the appropriate arrangement of furniture and the visual separation of individual zones through the colors of the walls and floors, the function of each space is clear - from the yellow front door, through the dark kitchen (optically enlarged by large mirrored cabinets) we move to a bright living room with a wooden floor and white walls, and further - to the bedroom, hidden in the depths.

The light-colored living room is contrasted with the dark kitchen - the tiles, floor, cabinets and even the appliances are black. What stands out against the kitchen is the wall with the front door entirely covered in an energetic yellow color.

In the bright living room, characteristic decorative elements come to the fore - vintage wooden furniture, a black designer PH5 lamp designed by Danish architect Poul Henningsen, minimalist black shelves suspended from the ceiling, posters with "Star Wars" characters and, placed between them, "lightsaber" - Lexaval's vertical lamps.

Between the living room and the bedroom, a special high closet was designed, which, when opened, allows you to use the desk located in it.

In the bathroom, the wall behind the huge shower glass is lined with herringbone-arranged ceramic tiles in a dark shade of green. The interior is complemented by wooden cabinetry, black accessories and mirrored furniture fronts.
industrial interior
Ola Kloc: Dark kitchen - light living room, posters with "Star Wars" characters on the walls, was it the dark and light side of the power that inspired the interior design?
Joanna Piórko: Interesting association :) The project was inspired primarily by the character of the surroundings - that is, Koneser Square itself, its old and new architecture. We wanted to take advantage of the industrial potential of the apartment, but at the same time preserve the soul, the character of the house and its inhabitants. Hence the reference to "Star Wars" - the Investors' favorite film series.

Ola: The apartment is 38 sq. m. in size and more than 3 meters high, what was the most difficult thing in the functional arrangement of the interior?
Joanna: In a nutshell - finding space, first and foremost, for a comfortable, intimate bedroom, while maintaining all other functions: kitchen, lounge and desk work. It was also necessary to balance what is on the floor - with how we arrange the space above our heads, so that there is no disproportion.
