Work on preparing for the renovation of the space began in 2018. At that time, the city held public consultations on the needs and expectations of Varsovians regarding the area. The subjects of the debates were primarily forms of dignified commemoration of the Warsaw Uprising, the shape of the greenery and the needs of the park's diverse user groups. Based on the conclusions of the consultations, competition guidelines were developed. The project of the topoScape and Archigrest studios turned out to be the best. The jury appreciated "a consistent historical narrative referring to the identity of the place with respect for natural resources, special care for the setting of the square at the entrance to the Warsaw Uprising Mound, attention to landscape management, solutions realizing social needs in the field of recreation and leisure, and the use of architectural forms building the mood of the place."

The modernized park around the Mound will feature installations referring to the site's history. The ruins of pre-war Warsaw will be exposed, and a viewing platform will appear on top of the mound. A historical path will lead to the top of the mound. The constructions will use authentic rubble excavated, among other things, during the reconstruction of the mound itself, as well as contemporary post-war rubble. The ruins will be exposed in the entrance area and along the stairs. The exposition will take the form of a series of lapidaries, accompanied by educational boards.
a place for wildness

Over the years, a spontaneously growing, interesting greenery has developed around the mound, which will be told through a separate educational path. The greenery will be arranged only in selected areas, so as to partially separate completely wild zones where nature will develop on its own. In addition, 450 park trees and 8,500 forest seedlings are planned to be planted. Bird and bat boxes will appear. On the anthropogenic habitats created here over the past 40 years, an unusual forest has developed by natural succession. In addition, the debris found here is now part of nature and a refuge for wildlife.
