Ślonsko Chałpa is a project to convert farm buildings from the communist period. The remnants of a barn were turned into a single-family home by the architects of mode:lina™ studio, preserving traces of the old architecture - raw concrete, brick and simple form.

The architects, together with the investors, decided to preserve the original atmosphere of the building - the body of the single-family house continues the simple shape of the former barn. From the existing buildings it was possible to preserve the concrete structure, some bricks and steel elements.

Thanks to the modular grid of columns and the concrete ceiling, the building could easily be rebuilt and rearranged fairly freely. The architects decided to shorten the body of the building by four structural fields, two of which allowed to create an outdoor terrace, and another two made room for a double-height living room. The roof of the building was also rebuilt, which was raised to accommodate residential functions on the first floor.

The wooden façade of Slezna Chałpa is pierced with large, irregular openings that allow maximum light into the interior. The gray barn-house adjacent to the barn was intended as a guest house.
