The campus of Gdansk University of Technology, which has more than 14,000 students, covers 77 hectares, the size of more than a hundred full-size football fields. The flagship building of the university campus is the Main Building, built in 1904 in the Dutch Neo-Renaissance style. Although the campus is steadily growing with new modern buildings, the space is not without shortcomings: it needs to be better integrated with the city, the area is divided by fences, and there are still not enough places for rest and recreation . This is expected to change in the coming years, the opening of the campus space was announced by Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, rector of the university during the Gala of the 120th anniversary of the Gdansk University of Technology.

revitalization and greenery
We have decided to completely revitalize and green the front space of our campus, i.e. from Narutowicza Street, along Bracka Street and up to Siedlicka Street ," announced Prof. Krzysztof Wilde.
He added that the plan is to remove nearly 300 meters of fence that has separated the campus for decades and create a new common space for students and residents of Gdansk along its entire length.
There will be pocket parks, expertly designed and landscaped green spaces, rain gardens and shaded areas for studying and relaxing, Prof. Krzysztof Wilde enumerated .
In addition, in place of the old parking lot next to the Eco-Innovation Center building, the university wants to create an urban plaza that will be a place to meet and spend time. The academic space is to serve not only PG students and employees.
In October, the university opened a new public park for residents - The space was created as part of the construction of a modern IT complex - the STOS PG Competence Center

campus will begin to pulsate with urban life?
We will renovate some of the university's buildings in the area and open stores and restaurants there, so that the place will also be alive outside study hours," the rector of Gdansk University of Technology noted. - I am convinced that the open Polytechnic will thus become one of the academic landmarks of Gdansk, and I am directly looking forward to the launch of this project.
Although the university's authorities have already made the decision to revitalize the campus, the challenge now facing them is raising funds to realize the concept. As the A&B portal has established, there are also plans to organize an urban planning and architectural competition.
