Poles recognized in AIDA design competition

07 of April '20

Projects by Polish studios Zachart Studio and RB Architects were recognized in the international AIDA competition, organized by Antalis - a European distributor of papers, packaging solutions and visual communications. This year's edition focused on creative interior designs and was divided into several categories.

Participants, which included architects and interior designers, design agencies and schools, as well as LFP printers , submitted as many as five hundred and thirty-five projects. The international jury selected eleven winning works.

"Office" category - office spaces

In this category, the jury decided to award two equal prizes. One of them went to Zachart Studio, a company specializing in the production of neon and spatial advertising. The project for the arrangement of office premises in the Alchemia Gdansk complex, in which Coala wallpaper WallDesign NW Canvas was used, was appreciated. The jury members were impressed by the decorative power of the design and its contrast with the surroundings. The wall decorations beautifully transform the interiors of the Gdansk office building.

Also awarded was the project titled. "Youse city mural" by Marion Delage, co-founder of the decorating company Parégrine from France. Printed on wallpaper, the cheerful and warm illustration by Mariana Castillo showcases the company's values and team, proud of their workplace. According to the award-winning author:

We are delighted with this award. The fact that a major player in the world of visual communications, such as Antalis, welcomed our design is a great sign of trust and recognition.

Interior Film category - apartment interiors

The second Polish company recognized in the Antalis Interior Design Award is RB Architects. The authors received the award for the interior design of the Skyline apartment. Architectural laminates Di-Noc Antalis, used as wall coverings and for finishing kitchen furniture and library, contributed to the creation of a warm atmosphere of the interior. The use of Di-Noc laminates that perfectly imitate natural materials such as wood or stone delighted the jury members. In their opinion, the creative use of this innovative material can be an excellent inspiration for refreshing the look of hotels, offices or commercial spaces.

Bold designs with Antalis materials

Among other award-winning works, the project by Morad Biki of France's Exhibit Group draws attention. His idea of a staging created on the wall of a building won in the "Retail" category. As the author of the project says:

We chose the Coala Walk&Wall range to fulfill Zadig & Voltaire's request to use visuals on the walls of buildings surrounding their flagship stores. Antalis' Coala Walk & Wall solution is ideal because it is waterproof, easy to install and remove without damage from all types of surfaces, including glass and concrete. In addition to the effectiveness of Antalis' solutions and the expertise of their team, the company also allows us to test the solutions before we buy them, which is quite an advantage.

The jury's attention was also drawn to theremodeling project of Fred's Kitchen , a trendy restaurant in Amsterdam, which was awarded in the "Hospitality" category. This is how its author, Loes Kok of Dutch studio Bull Creative, talks about her idea for the interiors:

"We wanted to give this elegant interior a more discreet look and a 'street' vibe to match the trendy neighborhood, where old warehouses have been converted into loft-style apartments, boutiques and restaurants. To do this and add local color to the place, we decided to cover the wall with a giant mural. To do this, we chose Coala wallpaper by Antalis with a leather texture. We are very pleased with the result - the place looks harmonious, elegant and modern at the same time.

Andrea Böjtös of Hungarian company Triform Neon Kft also used products from the Coala collection. Her design for the interior of the MRI laboratory was awarded in the Public Recognition Award category. According to the author:

"Thanks to Antalis and Coal products, we were able to create a wonderful imaginary world of the North Pole, making MR examinations at Heim Pál Hospital more pleasant and less stressful for children.

Francisco Rubio Ordás, who won the Public Building Prize for his design for the children's hospital, believes:

Antalis has the advantage of offering solutions that meet the highest standards.

Jury impressed by talent

Jurors of the AIDA competition unanimously admire the creative talents of this year's winners. Christoph Burckart, CEO of France & Monaco IWG, finds the winning projects inspiring and innovative. Surprised by the quality of the winning projects is Yann Mignot, deputy creative director at Saguez & Partners:

I found that there is a lot of creativity in them and, above all, many different uses for the product.

In contrast, Sari Myohanen, designer of Home & Environment at Peclers Paris, emphasizes the importance of format and substrate choice:

Large-format printing is a fantastic support for expression. It can be used on all kinds of surfaces, such as floors and ceilings, which gives great creative freedom. A sand effect, a velvety finish or an easily removable surface.... The possibilities are endless!

Summing up this year's competition, Xavier Jouvet, Director of Marketing and Purchasing of the Antalis Group, states:

With the Antalis Interior Design Award, we wanted to support the development of printing technology to create broad opportunities for all professionals in the field of personalized interior design. We are very pleased with the success of the second edition, and proud of this event, which allows us to bring together different perspectives on design around the world on the same platform.
