The birth of a child is a time of tremendous change. One of them is the need to furnish a room for the new family member. How to create a space that is functional and aesthetically pleasing? Check out our tips!
Safe sleeping space
The crib is by far one of the most important elements of a layette for a newborn. In the first months of life, the infant spends the most time sleeping. Above all, the furniture must ensure safety. So make sure that the crib meets the appropriate standards. Choose models made of non-toxic materials, free from harmful chemicals. Wooden cribs with rungs are effective in protecting against falling out. However, remember that the distance between them should be 4.5 to 6.5 cm to prevent the baby's head from getting stuck. The crib must also be sturdy and stable. Check that it does not wobble or have sharp edges. The mattress should be firm and well-fitted to the furniture so that there is no free space between it and the crib frame. Some models are equipped with additional features, such as a changing table, a drawer for bedding or the ability to convert into a couch for an older child. You can also buy a crib on wheels, which will allow you to easily change the position of the furniture. Consider which of these amenities will be useful to you, and then buy the model that best suits your needs.

Feeding area
In a room for a baby, of course, there must be a feeding space. How to arrange it? A comfortable chair, located adjacent to the baby's crib, will provide comfort. It is worth choosing a model with armrests, which will make it easier to hold the baby. Another useful element is a footrest. It will help to maintain a comfortable position, especially during prolonged feeding. Next to the chair, place a table on which you can put a snack, a phone or a book, and other small items that are useful to have within reach. Special C-shaped feeding pillows are also available on the market. They provide support for the shoulders and back. In addition, many companies offer dedicated feeding chairs, which are designed for the comfort of both mother and baby.

Changing table
Frequent diaper changes are a daily occurrence for every parent. So it is worth arranging a comfortable place to change the baby. There is a choice of free-standing, wall-mounted, portable changing tables and those mounted on a chest of drawers or a crib. Each of them has different advantages and disadvantages, so you need to adjust your choice according to such aspects as budget, available space, etc. A free-standing changing table usually has built-in shelves, drawers or baskets for accessories. This provides plenty of storage space. However, it takes up more space and is less portable. You can place a changing mat on any stable surface. It is lightweight and easy to store and carry, making it ideal for traveling. However, it doesn't have built-in storage space for accessories and doesn't provide stability. Overlays on a dresser or crib take up little space and are easy to remove after changing. However, they require a piece of furniture of adequate size. A wall-mounted changing table can be easily folded, which saves space. So it is a great choice for a corner arranged, for example, in the parents' bedroom. At the same time, it is important to remember that in this case we have limited space to store accessories.

Functional storage
With the birth of a baby, a mass of new items appear in the house. In addition, things like diapers, toiletries, wet wipes, etc. require constant replenishment. Organization is therefore crucial here. A practical solution is a chest of drawers that can hold many accessories. You can also choose a bookcase, which you can complement with capacious baskets. For storing cosmetics such as creams, oils, wet wipes, soaps and shampoos, use small baskets or containers. You can place them, for example, on the shelves of the changing table. An organizer with pockets will also work great for this. Wall shelves placed near the changing area are also a practical solution. This will ensure that the toiletries will always be at hand, and at the same time out of the child's reach. Also, a wheeled cart with several shelves is an excellent solution for storing accessories. This is because it can be easily moved to where it is needed at any time.

Fairytale accessories
Typical children's decorations will help create a cozy atmosphere. Framed drawings with animal motifs will gracefully decorate the walls. Pastel textiles and soft cuddly toys will complete the look. Don't forget about the carousel over the crib, too.
