New veneer collections from Piero Lissoni and Raw Edges

01 of April '22

ALPI's product range has been enriched with two new collections of decorative surfaces, which were developed in collaboration with Raw Edges studio and designer Piero Lissoni. The collections reinterpret wood in terms of color and pattern. They emphasize the versatility and timelessness of this material. The ALPI Wavy Fir collection created by Raw Edges is mainly based on intriguing pattern, while the ALPI French Palette collection from Piero Lissoni is based on color nuances.

ALPI's special veneer production process, which involves slicing previously pressed and dyed sheets of wood, makes it possible to obtain veneer in endless varieties and patterns. The products offered are of the highest quality, free from defects typical of natural wood, and, importantly, are characterized by repeatability of color and pattern, even for orders that are far apart in time.

Both collections are made of poplar wood, from Italian orchards. In this way, ALPI subscribes to its approach to environmental protection and sustainable forest management. As a certified raw material, poplar is considered the most environmentally friendly and renewable species.

French Palette collection from Piero Lissoni

ALPI's new French Palette collection, created in collaboration with Piero Lissoni, presents the results of ALPI's research on color. Color being the main protagonist of interior designs, it has always been a subject of experimentation. The ALPI French Palette collection draws inspiration from French painting of the early 18th century, where tones were often delicate, light, but not lacking in expressiveness. Each color in the collection, is the result of careful research, during which Piero Lissoni and ALPI's technical department measured and balanced every nuance to achieve the desired effect.

The new colors developed for ALPI are extremely modern yet antique. I approached the wood as if it were a fresco, moving from Enlightenment period painting to French paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries. Initially, I stopped for a while at the paintings of Veronese and Titian. These are hieratic colors, while speaking a modern language - Piero Lissoni.

The new veneer patterns designed by the Raw Edges studio are the result of their strategy based on innovation, freedom of action and the constant pursuit of new aesthetic dimensions. The ALPI Wavy Fir collection aims to showcase the naturalness of wood through graphic motifs. Fascinated by ALPI's woodworking capabilities, the designers decided to shape the characteristic striated grains of fir and pine into gentle curves, creating a surprising graphic effect.

The visit to the ALPI factory was like a dream for us. We felt like children entering a chocolate factory. We were impressed by how the company turned the process of experimentation into a proper industrial production process. Every cycle of the collaboration, from laying and gluing the sheets to edging the log, was amazing and fascinating - we had never seen anything like it - Raw Edges.
