The eleventh international edition of the MEDS Silesia Revival design workshop has been moved to 2021. The workshop will be held in the post-industrial areas of Upper Silesia.
[atualization 11.05.2020]
The workshop titled "Revival" has been postponed to next year due to the prevailing pandemic. According to the organizers:
The extra time will allow us to implement more ideas and prepare interesting side events. We will soon announce a new date for the workshop.
"Revival," the slogan of this edition, refers to the urban and architectural context of Upper Silesia as an area of mines, shafts and factories. For many years the region has been undergoing a gradual transformation, changing its meaning and becoming a cultural center.
workshop
One of the main challenges of the workshop will be to bring forgotten post-industrial spaces back to life. For two weeks, participants will work in groups under the guidance of experienced tutors, creating objects with special attention to the environment. In addition to the practical, educational and cultural aspects, the projects are intended to encourage discussion of the surrounding space. Each group, together with its tutor, works on the creation of the project and its documentation, which will be presented during the concluding exhibition of the workshop.
applications
The basis for qualification for the workshop is a preliminary work, which is to address one of the selected topics: ecology, revitalization, society. The form, content and technique are free.
