Lodz restoration is the new theme of the exhibition Identity. 100 Years of Polish Architecture, which is visiting more cities in Poland. The exhibition, which opened in the recently adapted post-industrial space Monopolis, looks at Lodz's architectural identity through the lens of revitalization and reuse.
Identity. 100 Years of Polish Architecture is an exhibition project that analyzes the post-1918 architectural phenomenon in Poland.

In 2019, the National Institute of Architecture and Urbanism analyzed snippets of the history of five cities: Krakow, Warsaw, Lublin, Poznan and Katowice. This time, the organizers invited the regional chapters of the Association of Polish Architects in Bydgoszcz, Łódź, Szczecin, Gdańsk, Olsztyn and Radom to join the ever-present discussion. Together with local curators, the NIAiU will examine changes in the landscape of these cities and attempt to define the architectural identity of the next six cities.

In Lodz, the organizers look at the city and its architecture through the lens of revitalization. Reinventing the city - this was not an easy task faced by Łódź city officials, architects and entrepreneurs in the 21st century. The renewal of the decapitalized urban fabric could not succeed without defining the identity of Lodz. The city, which in the second half of the 19th century was a symbol of rapid development based on modern industry and later developed its metropolitan potential, at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries declined, becoming a "Polish Detroit".
