jumpthegap® is an international design competition held every two years in cooperation with the Barcelona Design Center. It is aimed at creative individuals with visionary ideas who look to the future in their design. The organizers encourage people to jump the "gap" directly towards what is to come.
The 8 editions we have behind us sought innovation and sustainable solutions for the bathroom of the future. What counted were projects that were creative, but realized. The subject of the competition was both products, space and new functions. Today, our reality has changed, and we are probably not able to predict the future by pandemic or new consumer needs - both individual and collective in terms of access to sanitation, hygiene or health.
purpose of the competition
"The gap" or gap is real today and it's called COVID-19 - the question is how to close it or "jump over it"? The jumpthegap® competition is here to support new generations of designers and architects by offering them an international platform to develop and showcase talented personalities. With innovative solutions, we can build a better future together!
The contest task is to design an object or service for the bathroom that responds to the coronavirus pandemic. This is a competition open to designers and architects.
The prize pool is €5,000. The competition will select 5 winners for the best entries.

This is an express competition, as participants have 15 days to register and submit their project. The registration and submission period is: June 8-23, 2020, the results will be announced on July 23. Details of the competition and registration on the jumpthegap® website.
