The fourth cover of the Urban Regeneration Congress in Lodz is fast approaching. This year the event, organized by the Open Eyes Economy movement and the City of Lodz, will be dedicated to the issues of regenerative city culture.
EC1 in Lodz will take over the International Congress on Regenerative City Culture on May 14 and 15.
Culture is most often understood as a set of value norms and artifacts that are the product of civilization. In the concept of building a regenerative city, we do not want to treat culture as a business, but as a special institutional infrastructure (environment - cultural environment) in which a change in the trajectory of development takes place, and culture becomes the largest source of external benefits internalized in a more indirect than direct (commercial) way," explain this year's theme of the congress organizers. - This calls for the definition of a new paradigm for the city's long-term cultural policy, which should be oriented towards providing urban cultural institutions with high credibility, they add.

The program includes, among others, sessions on cultural heritage as a potential for city development, a discussion on the identity of Lodz, an analysis of the genesis and current status of Daniel Libeskind's Architecture Forum project, a roundtable on "icons" of architecture in the process of urban renewal, a session on cultural financing, and a panel on the role of industrial heritage sites in the processes of renewing the development potential of cities.

Festival of Open Architecture Studios
The event accompanying the congress is, as every year, the Festival of Open Architectural Studios organized by A&B. In this spring edition of FOPY, we will visit the studios of OVO Grąbczewscy Architekci (May 13 at 1 pm), WWAA (May 16 at 1 pm) and Group 5 Archite cts (May 17 at 1 pm). All meetings will be broadcast live on A&B's YouTube channel and FACEBOOK.
