The Paris Musées, an association of 14 museums including the Petit Palais, Maison de Victor Hugo and Musée d'art moderne, has made more than 100,000 works available online. The collection includes works by Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne or Delacroix. All are available for free download in high resolution. So there's no need to wait - invite art into your home!
Paris Musées has opened up access to more than 325,317 works online from the million-strong collection housed in Paris museums. Among them are paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, manuscripts, applied art and numismatics.
Along with a free download of your favorite work (at 300 dpi!), the user also receives a brief note about the work in question and licensing information to encourage widespread online sharing and citation of the source. The painting or photograph can then be printed, framed and hung on the wall.
The institution's goal is to make art interesting to a global audience and thus sensitize them. This is a new stage in the digital development of Paris museums.
