The honorary title of Ambassador has been awarded by the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology since last year - the first Ambassadors of the university were architects from the Cracow-based studio Biuro Projektów Lewicki Łatak - Piotr Lewicki and Kazimierz Łatak. This year, the chapter awarded this honor to Professor Boleslaw Stelmach, founder of the Stelmach and Partners Architectural Office and director of the National Institute of Architecture and Urban Planning.
In the black-and-white film created by WAPK, Boleslaw Stelmach talks about the experience of architecture, its philosophical dimension, beauty, reduction of form, the essence of proportion and the role of materials.
He also guides viewers through the nooks and crannies of the Center for the Meeting of Cultures in Lublin, awarded the 2017 Award of the Year by the Association of Polish Architects, while talking about the design process and the nuances that accompany it.
Boleslaw Stelmach recalls his time as a student at the Faculty of Architecture at the Cracow University of Technology, the lessons of wanting to follow Mies van der Rohe's thought instilled in him by Professor Bohdan Lisowski, the attention to the compatibility of what he draws with what he thinks passed on to him by Professor Witold Korski, and the realization that creating works of art requires extremely hard work passed on to him by Przemyslaw Szafer.
We won't reveal more details, see for yourself!
