Mountain enthusiasts who decided to conquer Gubałówka over the past few days may have been surprised to see an unusual spatial solution located on the hillside. A new, unusual local attraction has joined the Zakopane bear - a sandy beach in the Tatra Mountains.
A beach in Zakopane?
It's hard to understand how it happened - a sand-filled beach appeared on the hillside of the Tatra Gubalowski Range, overrun by tourists. The realizer of this initiative, as it turned out, is the Polish Cable Railways.
Gubałówka, having been a popular spot among tourists visiting Zakopane for years, is considered to be one of the most important and representative vantage points, offering an exceptional panorama of the Tatra Mountains. The hill is home to the top station of the PKL cable car with a viewing promenade. Now it has been decided to add another attraction, creating a beach on one of the slopes.
The sandy recreation area has been located at 1123 meters above sea level, which at the same time makes it the highest beach in Poland. The Polish Cable Railways also plans to organize a number of attractions in this zone. So far, there has been a "harnasi tournament" or a children's day celebration. PKL indicates that this is just the beginning of activities.

The beachzone is a rather innovative way to use the Gubalowka space and attract more tourists. The only question is whether this solution is justified right here. Conversations about the degradation of the landscape of the Tatra Mountains, led by mottled banners and Chinese dinosaurs with the signature "Zakopane," have not ceased for years. One gets the impression that the culture and nature around which the myth of Zakopane is built has been crushed by its own success for years. This is a topic for discussion beyond the beach on the slope of Gubałówka itself, although indirectly related to it. In this case, therefore, it is worth evaluating for oneself both the sense of the place and the project.
