The Academy of Young Architects invites eager 15-19 year olds to another online meeting. This time the workshop will be led by architect and artist Aleksandra Wasilkowska. The topic of the meeting will be Shadow Architecture, borderlands of architecture - niche objects and spatial hybrids that function on the margins of the urban system. During the workshop, participants will learn how to combine art and architecture and how young architects can find their niche.
Aleksandra Wasilkowska has been running an architectural studio since 2007, specializing in projects for bazaars, public toilets, museums and galleries, exhibitions, installations and scenography, as well as urban planning projects related to the revitalization of urban spaces. Together with Agnieszka Kurant, she represented Poland at the 12th International Architecture Biennale in Venice. Wasilkowska is the author of many exhibitions on architecture, publications and books, and for several years has been running her authorial series "Architecture of the Shadow" dedicated to the study of phenomena such as street trading, bazaars, toilets and other objects that function on the margins of architecture.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, June 6. Registration is available HERE. You will receive a link to Zoom after completing the sign-up form. After the meeting there will be an opportunity for consultation - a conversation with the architect.
