How can architectural visions be translated into real actions that can realistically help solve global and local problems? Discussions on this and many other topics will be held at the upcoming third edition of Element Urban Talks, an event that brings together an international group of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, local government officials and urban activists.
This year's edition of the conference will be held on 29.11-1.12.2019 at the Nowa Huta Cultural Center in Krakow. In addition to lectures and meetings with designers from around the world, the event will also feature workshops and architectural walks. Participants and guests will discuss design in an era of social challenges and the language of architecture as a tool for telling the future.
responsibility
The motto of this year's Element Urban Talks is responsibility. It is the sense of responsibility associated with thinking about the environment, people and their surroundings that should accompany architects at every stage of design - from idea to implementation, because their decisions shape not only today's everyday life, but also the world of tomorrow.
The guests and speakers invited to the conference are carefully selected opinion leaders for whom responsibility is a top priority. Among them were: Egbert Fransen, director of the We Make The City conference, Mateusz Halawa, researcher and researcher, Szymon Hanczar, interior designer, Phineas Harper, curator of the Oslo Architecture Triennale 2019, Laura Traldi, journalist, blogger designatlarge.it, Konrad Grabowiecki, Wojciech Kotecki and Jan Belina-Brzozowski, architects from BBGK Architects, Maciek Rydz from JEMS Architects, Marcin Szczelina, architecture critic and curator, creator of the Architecture Snob platform, and Zuzanna Skalska, Program Director of Element Urban Talks and Founding Partner of 360Inspiration.
From visionary ideas to practical solutions
The main focus of the program is lectures taking place on two stages - the main stage, where architects will share bold ideas and visionary projects, and the expert stage, where specific projects and solutions will be discussed. The lecture program will be complemented by architectural walks through places that are inaccessible on a daily basis (for example, the modernist Forum Hotel or the apartment of a crime fiction author) and workshops to develop skills that are essential in the architectural profession today - business, social and workshop competencies.
