This interior was inspired by the colors of nature - the juicy greens of the treetops, the deep reds of the cherry trees and the distinctive hues of the wood. This is not surprising, since the apartment is located close to the forest, and the investor himself is a mountain climber. His space must have corresponded to his passion, which is further evidenced by the gym ladder in the living room.
Magdalena Wieczorek of Studio Besign met all the investor's most important needs. The interior is tailored to his active lifestyle, and can also serve as a meeting place, thanks to clever solutions.
Basia: What was the main inspiration for this project?
Magdalena Wieczorek: The realization is located on the Bernadowo Hill in Gdynia, in close proximity to the forest. The inspiration for this interior design was nature and its characteristic materials and colors, such as the green of trees and the red of ripe fruit. The furnishings allude to vintage style, and there is no shortage of Polish design, a love for which we share with the investor.
So we decided to create an open interior, where the main material is wood, and the dominant color set is a duet of green and burgundy

Basia: What were the investor's expectations and needs?
Magdalena: The investor is a person who loves nature and a healthy lifestyle, and his apartment was to be a reflection of this. So we decided to create an open interior, where the main material is wood, and the dominant color set is a duo of green and burgundy. The living area is bright and subdued, and its furnishings have been reduced to the bare minimum.
At the same time, which was very important for the client, we received a functional space that is easy to subordinate to current needs. The unfolding oak table by Fameg, which is compact on a daily basis, also allows you to seat more guests comfortably. There are also authentic models of furniture from the 1960s, such as the 300-270 type armchair and the Kowalski chair.

The bathroom is also finished in original colors. It is a place where the investor finds solace for the senses after a hard day. The colorful ceiling was inspired by the crowns of trees, which form a natural vault. The calm white of the walls, which were finished with classic square tiles in a retro spirit, was balanced by wine-colored cabinetry and black accents.
The client is a climber, so he wanted the living room to include an exercise corner. We proposed isolating this space near the window, and there we installed a gymnastics ladder to help with daily home exercises.
Basia: Where did you get the idea for such a combination of colors, patterns and materials?
Magdalena: As I described earlier, I was inspired by nature, the green of trees and bushes, the red of ripe forest fruits. In addition, green is the investor's favorite color, which was the starting point for choosing the color scheme. Ash wood has a beautiful and expressive grain, which enlivens the subdued living room. This coloration of wood also perfectly matches the color palette already chosen.
What gave me the most satisfaction was choosing the finishing materials and working on the colors

Basia: What gave you the most satisfaction in creating this project, and what was the biggest challenge?
Magdalena: What gave me the most satisfaction was the selection of finishing materials and working on colors. Numerous iteration processes are very important at this stage, and I like to see how the design evolves and takes real shape on the samples. The challenge was to skillfully combine vintage styling with thoroughly modern elements, and to catch up with all the wood stains so that they blend harmoniously together.
