The new stations of the Warsaw subway will be built to a single architectural standard, and will be partially covered with greenery. The conceptual design of the third subway line has been presented.
Work is currently underway on the first 8-kilometer section of the third metro line, covering stations from the National Stadium through East Station, Minska, Wiatraczna Roundabout, Ostrobramska, Jan Nowak-Jezioranski to Goclaw and the Technical and Station on Kozia Gora. Further phases of this project envisage connecting Goclaw with an extension crossing the Vistula with Mokotow and Sluzewiec.

The document that officials presented together with designers from ILF Consulting Engineers Poland is a conceptual design - a preliminary report of the first section. Designers will soon proceed with further work - determining the zones of influence of subway facilities on buildings and assessing the technical condition of buildings in the construction zone. All of this work will be completed in mid-2023 so that a tender for its implementation can already be announced in the second quarter.

The line will be designed in the spirit of the latest pro-environmental solutions while reducing costs as much as possible. This means vegetation on the station exit canopies and the use of repetitive architectural elements. Emphasis will be placed on quality in the station's immediate surroundings - there will be plenty of bicycle racks, and glazed shelters will interfere as little as possible with the station's historic surroundings , explained Rafał Trzaskowski, mayor of the City of Warsaw.

The city is conducting intensive conceptual work on the next lines and the target layout of the metro in the capital. Experts in the "Study of the development of the Warsaw subway system" are estimating the costs and benefits of various variants, which will allow the selection of the course of the M3 further section and subsequent lines, and the determination of the target shape of the Warsaw subway network. Public officials pointed out that the subway as currently planned will not be competitive with the planned streetcar line to Goclaw. However, the much simpler and cheaper investment has been postponed for the future. Officials have announced that the target network for Warsaw's subway and the city's transportation plan will be known when a draft of the new study is put out for public review this fall.

Relative to the originally presented visualizations of the new stations on the M3, the current draft primarily standardizes the internal appearance of the stations. Passengers will be able to distinguish them from each other thanks to different colors and the layout of acoustic panels. The exterior appearance of station entrances will also be the same for all locations. The main architectural accent of the simple glass shelters is to be the greenery above the canopies. The presented locations of station entrances are still subject to change.
