Since early June, the Terrace Restaurant designed by CUDO Studio has been operating in Wrocław's Centennial Hall. The fully glazed premises, without a single interior wall, blurs the boundaries between the interior and the nearby Pergola, with only mint-gray curtains dividing its space. Note the additional terrace in the interior and the long bar conducive to conversation.

The basic idea of the project is to blur the boundary between the interior of the restaurant and the Pergola. We have restored the transparency of the entire establishment by exposing both storefronts - the interior and exterior. We want to reuse the façade opening system and let in not only the air, but also the greenery and the whole feeling of being in the Centennial Hall complex, the designers say.

opening to the surroundings
The most important and characteristic element of the premises is the view of the Wroclaw Pergola and fountain itself. At the restaurant's storefront, the architects opted for fleshy curtains in a rather unusual arrangement - by arranging them perpendicular to the glazing, they did not interfere with the view of the Max Berg-designed Centennial Hall and allowed the establishment to smoothly enter the restaurant's interior. The strong, elegant material of the curtains, in addition to acoustic and aesthetic qualities, also serves as partitions between the tables - it gives a sense of intimacy and allows you to freely arrange larger or smaller spaces along the display windows.

terrace layout
An important element that accompanied us from the beginning of the conceptual work was to extend and emphasize the terrace layout of the entire site - including the restaurant. Our design introduces an additional terrace in the middle of the restaurant. Such a solution allows for a clearer interpretation of the cascading layout of the entire establishment," the architects add.

form and function
When looking for materials, CUDO designers focused on the immediate surroundings of Centennial Hall. They matched the mint-gray hues of the curtains with the colors of the distinctive columns, the golden color of the accessories alludes to the glazing of the Hall's dome, and the slabs of light terrazzo, with embedded green particles, smuggle even more green into the interior and refer to the omnipresent nature visible on the Pergola. Meanwhile, the wood used, in a deep and mature shade, adds to the restaurant's coziness and nobility.

The materials are a reference to what we found, but the form and function are very contemporary. This is a restaurant of our time, not only in terms of decor, but also in the way it functions. It is incredibly compatible and offers many possibilities for setting up and combining different zones. That's why we can find a place for any occasion, from an elegant dinner for two to a large reservation to celebrate important moments with loved ones," says the CUDO team.

combining modernity with history
Creating the Terrace Restaurant concept was unique for the architects in many ways. Centennial Hall is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for this quite a challenge was to combine contemporary design with the historical context of the place. Also unique is the fact that the Terrace Restaurant does not have a single wall and is entirely made of glass, with a long bar as its dominant feature, encouraging meetings and evening conversations.
