Little Japan in the center of Warsaw. Apartment from Studio O.

11 of May '20

Aga Kobus and Grzegorz Goworek of Studio. O. drawing inspiration from their travels to Japan, designed a luxury apartment in the heart of Warsaw. The space, which combines Japanese tradition and European design, allows for tranquility and relaxation.

The apartment of more than three hundred square meters is conducive to creative thinking and living in the spirit of slow life. The character of the interior is created by references to Japanese aesthetics, which intermingle with the best European design.

Apartment on the roof of a Warsaw apartment building

The apartment is located in the superstructure of a Warsaw tenement. The couple inhabiting it decided to create a peaceful asylum in it, which would allow them to rest from the city's hustle and bustle. This task was entrusted to the design duo Studio. O. The result? An interior surrounded by a terrace and green vegetation was created on the roof of the tenement - a real oasis where the rush of the city is not felt, and time seems to flow more slowly.

Open, luminous interior

The interior does not use a traditional division. The whole is open, which further emphasizes the spaciousness of the apartment. This impression is also enhanced by its height, which is about 3.5 meters. The private part - a bedroom and a bathroom - is located in a centrally located cubicle, partially sheltered by walls made of wooden slats. The living area consists of a kitchen with an exposed worktop, a dining room, which is decorated with a mirror by Oskar Zięta, and a lounge area with a decorative hearth.

Wind from the east

The authors of the project Aga Kobus and Grzegorz Goworek draw inspiration from their travels to Japan. The interiors they create draw on Eastern philosophy and the perception of space as a coherent whole. The design resembles an intricate jigsaw puzzle, where light, plants and the weave of colors, materials and textures matter. Not without significance is also Aga's passion for yoga. The Warsaw interior reflects the tenets of yoga practice - harmonious and balanced, at once simple and sophisticated.

Luxurious minimalism and glazing

The apartment is somewhat ascetic, but not devoid of warmth and coziness. It owes its coherence to consistent attention to detail. The walls have been specially aged with plaster, which provides a good background for paintings by Tomek Baran. The heart of the house is the living area filled with the best European design. The lounge space is created by Desiree and Sabba Italia modular sofas. Conical Wästberg lamps, ideal for high rooms, add character. The floor is decorated with a handmade Dama carpet from Poliform, and the whole is complemented by classic Carl Hansen & Søn chairs and armchairs. A great asset of the apartment is the glazing, thanks to which the interior enters into a dialogue with the environment. The living room opens onto a spacious terrace, filled with ornamental grasses in natural pots from Atelier Vierkant and meticulously trimmed shrubs.
