A coastal-style apartment is not just about pillows with an anchor symbol or whiteand navy stripes. In the apartment in Gdynia Orlowo there are subtle references - deep shades of blue and natural stone of sandy color, which by its drawing brings to mind the movement of waves coming to shore.
Even the first glance at the Gdynia apartment leaves no doubt - nothing here is a coincidence. Architect Joanna Safranow of the Safranow studio, planned the space to the smallest detail and dressed it in world-class design, noble materials and unobvious references to the seaside location. The result was worth all her efforts, as it is impossible to take your eyes off the interiors of the nearly 120-square-meterapartment. Although, as the designer stresses, it's a place created first and foremost for living, not just for viewing. But why not combine the pleasant with the useful?

If a private dwelling testifies to the personality and taste of its owners, then the apartment located in the Gdynia-Orlovo district is the best showcase for investors. Full of classic elegance, bold colors and eye-stealing, stylish details - it arouses unquestionable admiration. But the entire arrangement would not have been created without the participation of the architect, who reflected the character and preferences of the hosts with geometric forms, a rich color palette and soft textures. She could do this like no one else, because she was designing for the investors for the umpteenth time. Maybe that's why she wasn't afraid of bold decisions and was ready to look for solutions from start to finish created with the owners of the Gdynia apartment in mind. Certainly the search was aided by close cooperation with her friend carpenter Janusz Barzowski, who made a number of elements in the apartment to individual order and based on the architect's designs. From the milled panels visible in the corridor, to the original solids of the furniture and cabinets of the private area of the hosts, to the semicircular decorations of the doors.

The place of implementation often involuntarily influences the direction of the entire arrangement. In the case of the Gdynia apartment, however, the decision was made fully consciously. Although inspired by the seascape, it was intended to be far from the sedate combinations of white and blue, or the immortal Hamptons style. Because the sea reflected in the interior design of the apartment more resembles the one seen during a storm - agitated, restless and full of secrets. As a result, already in the corridor guests are greeted by intensely dark blue walls and the sight of a contrasting painting by Robert Motelski, against which the curved form of a custom-made gold console in art déco style resounds.

Deep shades of blues and bottle greens can also be found, moving to the representative living room connected to the dining room. Here the bold colors sat on the soft velour upholstery of the sofa, original armchairs or chairs. And these juxtaposed with sand-colored wallpaper and patterned onyx, with a drawing associated with seaside dunes, create a stylistically coherent space. An unusual nautical element visible above the sofa is a painting by Agnieszka Leszczyńska-Mieczkowska, who runs the Art in Architecture gallery. Full of geometric forms, it corresponds with the round glass tables and the spectacular crystal chandelier hanging over the dining table. Sympathy for nature can be seen in the design not only through the choice of patterns or motifs, but also noble materials. Raw materials such as wood, stone, the aforementioned crystal, silk, plush, wool or gold dominate here. The dark shade of cobalt introduced in the hallway has its continuation on the simple, slightly shiny kitchen cabinets.
Minimalist cabinets hide all the necessary household appliances and allow the eye to focus on the exceptionally impressive glossy mosaic by Sicis. It is the one that covers the entire wall of the kitchen, resembling a sparkling ocean surface in which the sun's rays are reflected. Such a strong element forced the architect to exercise restraint when working on the rest of the room. Hence the idea of a light-colored countertop and floor, and subtle furniture shapes. Although the quiet star of the kitchen is certainly the Fast Gold designer vase by Rosenthal, which brings a bold spirit of contemporary design to the apartment.
