Kinga Fichtel of the Podhale State Vocational University in Nowy Targ has designed a new railroad station building in Częstochowa. The master's thesis was carried out under the direction of Hubert Mełges, PhD.
Kinga Fichtel referred to Częstochowa's investment plans, which include increasing the commercial potential of the railroad station area on the western side of the railroad line, as well as moving the future building to the eastern part. The result was the design of a shopping mall functionally connected with the Częstochowa Główna railway station and the PKS building, forming one comprehensive body.

The author, after analyzing the routes and communication axes, proposed two longitudinal buildings - eastern and western. The structure hides platforms and stands for PKS and MPK, creating on the upper floor the premises of the railroad station and in the future, a bus station. With its minimalist and transparent architecture, the project organizes the space, while the prefabricated openwork of the facade adds lightness. The interior is designed to make it easier for passengers to communicate and quickly reach the platforms.

The western building is distinguished by arches of architectural concrete, located at the intersection of communication axes. The diploma work, through the use of clinker bricks in the facade of the building, also refers to the historic building of the Vienna-Warsaw railroad station. Meanwhile, the diploma work's proposed café with an exhibition of photographs brings the history of the station, erected at the end of the 19th century, closer.
