"10 Questions to..." is a series of short conversations with architects and female architects, to whom we address the same pool of questions. In today's episode, we asked Jakub Bladowski of the Sopot-based ROARK Studio for answers.
Jakub Bladowski was born in 1984 in Morąg. In 2008 he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Gdansk University of Technology, and in 2013 he defended his dissertation entitled. "Application of genetic algorithms in architectural design". He currently works as an assistant professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the Faculty of Architecture of the Gdansk University of Technology and runs the ROARK Studio, founded in 2015.

2. The three most important buildings for you...?
a. San Francisco Federal Building, designed by Thom Mayne.
b. Casa da Música, proj.: Rem Koolhaas.
c. Gilardi House, proj.: Luis Barragán.
3. the most important book on architecture...?
For me personally, "Algorithmic Architecture" by Kostas Terzidis, because it started a process in me that I am still in today: considering what architecture should be.
4. most inspiring city and why...?
When it comes to momentum and the feeling needed by architects that anything is possible New York. When it comes to understanding how a city should be shaped so that people feel the best in it - Florence.
5. architect with whom you would like to design something and why...?
Ben van Berkel (UNStudio), because I think he was one of the first to understand what architecture will be in the future.
6. hand drawing or computer drawing?
Drawing is a language, so the answer will depend on what we want to say and to whom.
7. mockup or 3D model?
Any way to achieve a viable 3D representation of the project will suffice. I wish I could create models for every project.
8. modernism or postmodernism?
I live in Gdynia, so any other answer than modernism would be out of place.
9. working after hours or sports?
I would like to say sports, but for now it is mostly work.
10. architecture or business?
I am fortunate that investors are willing to pay for something that for me is a lifelong passion. Therefore, I would put architecture first.
