To the existing traditional house covered with a gable roof, architects from the PORT studio in Wroclaw added a minimalist block with an L-shaped plan, which, although partially hidden in the depths of the plot, will stand out with its bold color and modern finish. The watchword for the project was the idea of an Opole Tuscany.
In the design of a house for a multi-generational family in Kolanowice in the Opole region, the architects left the existing residential building and the garage located perpendicular to it. In the depth of the plot they planned a separate house - a modern black block with large glazing.

Ola Kloc: What was the priority for the investors?
Investors: Our goal was to create a comfortable living space for a multi-generational family and a cozy resting place for friends of the house while preserving the existing buildings, which are part of the family history. PORT architects perfectly integrated the body of the new building into the architecture of the Opole countryside. We are delighted with the project, let's hope it will be the same after construction ;)

Ola: What was the biggest challenge, and what are you most satisfied with?
PORT: At the first meeting we fell in love with the atmosphere and climate of the house, the countless plants and plants, the nooks and crannies, the old architecture and the outdoor, large table for guests (an even larger one is to come in the future). The house is supposed to be a meeting place. This is how the slogan Opole Tuscany was born. We set ourselves the goal not to lose this atmosphere, to create a place for a multi-generational family and the ever-present guests in their home, so that everyone could live together while having the necessary autonomy.

Ola: The new building will form a whole with the existing buildings of the plot. What was the inspiration for the massing of the new house?
PORT: Respect for history and simplicity in the broadest sense, which is reflected in the architecture and mentality of Opole Silesia, but also in the desires of both aesthetic and emotional investors, who are busy and busy every day. The house is supposed to be a sanctuary of relaxation, allow contact with nature, taste of life, meetings, but also provide the necessary peace and intimacy. Hence the independent blocks and separate entrances to each zone. The house is supposed to be a place where everyday life takes on a special status, as it is the essence of life. This everyday life is what is important: meetings, contemplation of nature, meals, a cup of aromatic coffee or a glass of wine. Home is supposed to provide relaxation and tranquility, which is often lacking in our overstimulated world, architecture here is a space to taste life.
Ola: Thank you for the interview!
