Nobu Hotel in Warsaw: timeless elegance combined with contemporary design

21 of March '22

The new Nobu design hotel is a unique place on the map of Poland's capital: its unusual architecture combines 1920s art déco style with modernity. The exclusive 5-star hotel, founded by Oscar winner Robert de Niro, Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa and businessman Meir Teper, is located in the cultural center of Warsaw's Mokotow district and offers 117 rooms and suites. Construction work on the PLN 100 million project began in 2017, and the hotel opened its doors to guests from around the world on August 3, 2020.

The Nobu chain now has nearly 40 restaurants worldwide, and their menus combine distinctive Japanese dishes with locally typical dishes. The chain's success prompted the founders to invest in luxury hotels, which attract guests with excellent cuisine and a unique atmosphere. Another hallmark of the Nobu brand is the unique architecture of the buildings, which is different each time and connects to the spirit of the location in an individual way.

The newly built hotel in Warsaw is the twelfth facility of the renowned brand. The building takes the form of an unusual, glazed block on a trapezoidal plan, with staggered floors. Particularly distinctive is the facade made of crushed glass. Thanks to this, the most demanding clients, which often include Hollywood stars, are assured of complete privacy, and at the same time can freely admire the panorama of Warsaw.

The hotel was built on the site of the former Hotel Rialto in close proximity to a number of historic buildings, which required a particularly careful approach. The former hotel was transformed into a classical wing of the new building. A modern part was added to it, which with its sparing formal language refers to the Warsaw architectural style of the early last century. The modern part was designed by the Polish architectural firm Medusa Group and the Studio PCH design office from California. The authors managed to combine tradition and modernity in a typically Japanese, subtle way.

Public spaces are decorated with masterpieces of Polish contemporary art from the collection of Grzegorz Jankilewicz. The Nobu Hotel in Warsaw is unique for its unique combination of culinary offerings, proximity to cultural institutions, designer architecture and energy efficiency.

Plenty of daylight and high energy efficiency of the building

The building's interior is bathed in daylight thanks to its large expanses of glazing. But these are not the only benefits of triple glazed units supplied by Vitroterm-Murow. They are equipped with SWISSPACER warm spacers, providing the best possible thermal insulation. The Swiss manufacturer's warm frames are made of a highly insulating plastic composite, so heat loss is reduced to a minimum. This helps prevent thermal bridges and heat loss in the area of the glass edge. This prevents heated air from entering the building in summer, as well as cooled air in winter. In this way, condensation and mold formation and their negative health consequences can be eliminated.

Although at first glance the warm frame is a barely perceptible detail of the entire design, it actually allows to provide a pleasant temperature in the interiors of the Nobu hotel in Warsaw in an energy-efficient way.
