Dutch design today
Contemporary Dutch design became recognizable in the 1980s thanks to names like Benno Premsela (proj. Lotek). Today, the Netherlands' internationally acclaimed and respected design schools and courses are becoming a kind of talent factory, which brands like Hollands Licht are helping to make a name for themselves. What remains important is the unchanging design ethic that defines Dutch design as: minimalist, experimental, innovative, unconventional and functional. All of these qualities are expressed in the Hollands Licht collection.

Manufactured with care
The creation process involves a search for a balance between the lighting effect the lamp is intended to give and its functional use. Based on specialized knowledge, as close to home as possible, both in material processing and LED development, optimal solutions are sought. Working closely with local artisans and specialists in LED innovation, the goal is to reduce CO2 emissions as much as possible and keep the production process transparent. 90% of the products are made in the Netherlands and the remaining 10% in other EU countries (including glass lampshades from Czech steel mills).

From the wisdom of the Dutch masters
"I don't paint cows, but light," a Dutch painter once said. The play of light and dark, sky and landscape has been a source of inspiration for artists and designers for centuries. In the Hollands Licht collection, the use of light and its planned, purposeful action plays an important role. The color palette is a nod to Dutch painting from the Golden Age. In 2023, Hollands partnered with Raw Color, resulting in a stunning and functional color palette that enhances the beauty and functionality of the lamps. The unique colors are based on the 13 pigments that Dutch master Rembrandt used for his paintings.

How it all started
Hollands Licht is an initiative of Rob Cornelissen of Eikelenboom, an importer and agent of international designer lighting. Since 1968, the company has offered lighting solutions for both private and design interiors. In 1982, Eikelenboom began producing Lotek, an iconic floor lamp that is now one of the best-known design classics in Dutch lighting. Lotek was designed by the versatile designer and interior designer Benno Premsel (1920 - 1997). The timelessness and practicality of the design were in part the inspiration for the creation of Hollands Licht in 2005.

"Hollands Licht is proud to exhibit at Euroluce during Milan Design Week and we are excited to share our latest creations with a global audience. Our new colors and presentation concept reflect our commitment to pushing the boundaries of lighting design," said Rob Cornelissen, founder of Hollands Licht. The presence at the fair underscored the brand's position in the lighting market Another special moment occurred at the fair - among the visitors to the booth was Queen Maxima of the Netherlands herself, who was introduced to the brand's designs and philosophy by Rob Cornlissen.
Author's collection
The hallmark of all Hollands Licht products is their wide application. Thoughtful design and functions of the lamps make them successful in private and commercial interiors. The brand's collection includes more than a dozen models, most of which are pendant lamps. Also noteworthy is the possibility of castomization, which, in addition to choosing the color of light or creating compositions from ready-made lamps, offers special textile lamp covers from the Kvadrat range. Notable projects include Limpid Light (designed by Esther Jongsma & Sam Van Gurp, 2015); Vapour (designed by Studio Thier&Vandaalen, 2018); Pleat (designed by Wiebe Boonstra, Martijn Hoogendijk & Marc Van Nederpelt, 2009); Lotek (designed by Benno Presela, 1982) or Flybye (designed by Ernst Koning, 2018).

From now on in Poland
The ceremonial premiere of the brand in Poland took place on October 4 at the BM Housing showroom in Warsaw. During the event, which brought together architects, industry representatives and the media, Hollands Licht lamps were presented in the company of furniture and accessories of other Dutch brands from BM Housing's portfolio. The arriving guests were welcomed by: Attache for Cultural Affairs from the Dutch Embassy Martin van Dijk, Michiel Greeve of Hollands Licht and Joanna Markus - founder of BM Housing, who comments: "It's a great joy and honor for us to introduce such a unique brand as Hollands Licht, without a doubt. When I first saw the lamps in person, I knew I had to have them in my portfolio. The comments and reactions from interior designers after our launch have been very positive, which is even more gratifying. I hope that Hollands Licht lamps will start to appear in Polish interiors, making them both modern, innovative in equal measure and functional."
